Description / Background

A granite memorial mounted on three stone steps with name and dedication plaques on each side, one plaque being dedicated to those who died and the remaining three to those who served in the Great War. Around the base of the monument there are a number of plaques referring to the Second World War campaigns, Korea, Borneo, Malaya, Vietnam and other conflicts.

Behind the monument is a curved brick wall on which numerous plaques are attached referring to the different service groups and roles carried out during the events being commemorated.

This memorial was erected by the citizens of the Hornsby District. Unveiled on 27 April 1923 by His Excellency Lord Forster PC, KCMG, Governor General.

To the immortal honour of the men of the Hornsby District who served their King & Empire in the Great War 1914-1919.
