Description / Background

A large, light-coloured polished wooden board with three glass-fronted panels on which veterans' names and the Railway Branch in which they were employed have been printed. It is apparent that the veterans listed on the two smaller, outer panels either died or were wounded while on service. There is no decoration or inscription. The memorial is part of the Railway Remembrance Wall located near platform 23.

Additional information by Sydney Trains:

It is now known that this honour roll was produced by the Operations staff. A triptych Honour Roll board, with 100 Operations railways employees names who served in the First World War written on paper in ink, and accompanied by their Railway Branches, and mounted in a large wooden picture frame behind a glass pane.

The triptych originally had left and right wings attached, that contained the names of those who were wounded or gave their lives in the First World War, but these were removed in 2014 due to their deteriorating paintwork for conservation work.

The central panel is currently fixed to the western Railway Remembrance Wall at Central Station.
