Description / Background

Made of sandstone, this monument consists of a statue of an Anzac soldier holding a rifle to his side, positioned on a pillar. The pillar is at the centre of four walls, which angle out from the centre, creating a cross-like shape. The walls bear the names of those who served.

The memorial was dedicated on 15 December 1918 by Governor General Ferguson. When subscriptions opened in 1917 for the erection of the memorial, Charles Howard Wood donated the total cost of the works, being ₤1,400.
