Description / Background

Morpeth War Memorial was unveiled on 26 November 1921 in honour of those who served in the First World War. It is a tapered sandstone pillar, standing on a three-step base. The four sides of the pillar contain marble tablets inscribed with an honour roll for the Great War. The base has three smaller tablets attached, including an honour roll for the Second World War.

In 2021–2022, the memorial underwent conservation works, which included cleaning of the monument, repointing the memorial's stonework and repairs to its lettering. The project was supported by a Community War Memorials Fund grant from the NSW Government.

The memorial is located outside the former Morpeth Courthouse, which is now a museum.
