Veteran Notes/Bio

Awarded the Military Medal:

'At PETILLON on 19th/20th July, 1916, Private SORTON And Private DEVERY (stretcher bearers) in addition to carrying wounded from front line trenches to dressing station repeatedly under very heavy shell fire twice essayed a trip into TNO MANUS LANDU to bring in wounded. The first attempt failed, but they tried again and succeeded in bringing in one seriously wounded man in spite of the very heavy shell and machine gun fire which swept the ground.'
