Veteran Notes/Bio
Awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for work under great difficulties on well at Ploegsteert between 7-12 June 1917.
'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty whilst digging a well. After three of his party had been severely gassed, he worked for 24 hours under fire until reaching a supply of water, which has since proved of the greatest value in saving the necessity for carrying parties, with attendant losses.'
