Lomandra School Kokoda Memorial Middle Image Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background The Lomandra School Kokoda Memorial consists of four black granite columns, each inscribed with gold lettering, and arranged in a semi-circle. The columns stand within a circlular area paved in crushed gravel. In the centre of the circle is a low plinth, which bears the dedication to those who served and fell during the Kokoda campaign in the Second World War. Located nearby is a mast flagpole and a reflection area, featuring low stone blocks for seating. The school has a special connection with Kokoda, as former Principal, Mark Smith, established a biannual trek across the Kokoda Trail for students that took place in 2013, 2015 and 2017. The memorial was unveiled on 15 September 2023. It is a replica of the Isurava Memorial in Isurava, Papua New Guinea.
