Central Tilba First and Second World Wars Memorial Middle Image Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background The monument consists of two tiered granite blocks upon which is placed a tall obelisk of polished marble. The entire memorial sits on a concrete base surrounded by eight small granite pieces. A roll of honour is inscribed on the memorial. Originally dedicated for the First World War, names for the Second World War have been added at a later date. Notes on veterans' names: No records can be found for deceased veterans from this area with the following names: R W Baker, P Hockey and N Sutherland. Their status codes have been given as Killed in Action (KIA), as that is what is indicated by the memorial. P Hockey may be Cecil Percy Hockey. N Sutherland may refer to James Alisine Sutherland of Tilba Tilba, who is recorded as KIA. All other status codes are taken from information in the Australian War Memorial Roll of Honour, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission database and the National Archives of Australia.
