Eastwood War Memorial Gates Middle Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background The memorial is a set of gates, which were dedicated on 24 May 1925. The centre section of the gates is a wall of Sydney sandstone, bearing an honour roll of those who gave their lives during the First World War. The roll is decorated with a laurel wreath. On either end of the wall are pillars, made from the same material. Attached to the pillars is an honour roll recording Second World War fatalities. The design of the wall is harmonised by a concave sandstone cornice and a raised base. Metal gates hung on the outside edge of each pillar give access to Eastwood Park. The memorial is accompanied by a small garden of rosemary, as a symbol of remembrance. Note on veteran's name: J. R. Forrest is given on the memorial as J. R. Forest.
