English, Scottish and Australian Bank Great War Roll of Honour Middle Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background An ornate timber honour roll containing five panels of names which are embossed with gold leaf. The centre panel, listing those officers Killed in Action, is flanked on either side by two panels of those who served. Staff members are listed as being either from the 'Head Office Establishment' or the 'Australian Establishment' and any military decoration is signified by an asterisk alongside the relevant name. Among the board's decorations are three wreath motifs and the bank's own emblem at the apex of the board. Notes on veteran names: Australian War Memorials records list: five GH Taylors who died on active service and separately two who received awards. two AG Morrises who were decorated. two RH Thomsons who were decorated. The following veterans were from Head Office: Chamberlain, Clarke, Danks, Lindon, Miller, Milne, Paine, Ritchie, Silk, Taylor, Wallace, Williamson, Jones. Additional information: The ES and A Bank merged with the ANZ Bank in 1970.
