Newcastle Boys High School Second World War Memorial Entrance Middle Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background The memorial is a brick entranceway to Callaghan College, Waratah Technology Campus, originally known as Newcastle Boys High. The entrance faces west, towards Turton Road, Waratah. Above the main door are the words 'Memorial Entrance World War II 1939-1945'. Two brass honour roll plaques flank the door. At the top of each plaque is the badge of Newcastle Boys High and the school's motto in Latin 'Remis Velisque', meaning 'With oars and sails; with all one's might'. The plaques are inscribed with the names of more than 90 ex-pupils who served. They are listed under the heading 'In remembrance', which may indicate they all died on service. The school was has had a number of name changes since it was established.
