Loco Turning and Machine Shop, Roll of Honor 1914-1919, Railway Remembrance Wall, Central Station Middle Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background Part of the Railway Remembrance Wall, this is a light-coloured, polished wooden board with veterans' names printed in gilt. The names are organised both by the place in which the veterans' served and the year of enlistment. The only decoration consistes of a painted, crossed Union Jack and Australian flag above an outline of Australia with a soldier superimposed. The whole board is encased behind a glass pane. The memorial is located near platform 23. Please note: The number in the 'Serv No.' Column is the year the soldiers enlisted. Additional information by Sydney Trains: A polished carved wooden Roll of Honour board, with 46 Locoworks Machineshop railways employees names who served in the First World War written in gilt, and accompanied by the year of enlistment, and arranged in three columns titled: Gallipoli; Palestine; Flanders; and encased behind a glass pane. It was decorated with crossed Union Jack and Australian flags, and a soldier on an map of Australia above. It was produced by Machineshop staff, and was relocated after its closure in 1988, and fixed to the western Railway Remembrance Wall at Central Station.
