Description / Background

The memorial has two sections, one on each side of the exit driveway to the club. Each area is fenced off separately with a cream coloured metal fence.

Left side includes:

  • A three-tiered monument made of sandstone and black marble. At the top of the monument is a large sandstone block holding up the eternal flame.
  • On the left side of the monument is the Australian flag and on the right side is the flag of England. Behind the monument is a three-flagged flag pole.
  • Around the edge of the fenced off area are seven sandstone pillars, each with a plaque for a different conflict or peace keeping force. The details on the plaques included the conflict title, years of the conflict and the number of casualties.

Right side includes:

  • A rose garden around a tall, square sandstone pillar supporting the eternal flame, the Australian and English flags.
  • Four sandstone pillars with plaques naming the people from the area who fought in the different conflicts Australia has been involved in.
