The roll of honour is a large brass plaque on the left of the entrance to the Strathfield Council Chambers. At the top of the plaque there is a rising sun and at the bottom is two wreaths. Under the roll of honour is a separate small brass dedication plaque.

Notes on veteran names:

  • No records can be found for deceased soldiers from this area with the following names: N Austin, P R Frank, B Hobson.
  • Causes of death could not be found for the following veterans: I C Farquharson, J G Hendry. Their status has been given as 'Killed in action' (KIA), as that is what is indicated by the memorial.
  • B Hobson may be could be Brian Vernon Hobson, (KIA on the S. S. Nellor) or Arthur Bruce Hobson (Acc Kd).
  • All other status codes have been taken from information contained in the Australian War Memorial Roll of Honour, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission database, and the National Archives of Australia.
  • On the memorial:
    • C W M Corkill is given as M Corkill
    • R J H Lea is given as J Lea,
    • J Costello who DOD/DPOW is given as J M Costello
    •  P G Crane and M J Watson died of injuries in Australia, therefore these were possibly accidental deaths.
  • The Australian War Memorial gives awards for the following veterans: C F Harrington (DSC), J G Hendry (MC), P Mullens (DFC).

This roll of honour was unveiled by His Excellency the Governor of New South Wales Lieutenant-General Sir John Northcott K.C.M.G.,C.E.,M.V.O. on 26th September, 1953.
