Woolgoolga Diggers Club War Memorial Middle Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background A memorial fountain consisting of several elements. A large stone of remembrance topped with a symbolic eternal flame sculpture is set in the water feature with the fountains. Australian Defence Service badges are attached to one side of the stone. On the opposite side of the fountain is a wall with honour rolls. In the centre of the wall are the four original marble tablets from c1922, with the names of First World War dead. A dedication plaque for the First World is on the left. To the right is a smaller tablet with the names of Second World War dead. This memorial was erected in 2001 to replace the original sandstone memorial erected in Woolgoolga in c1922, which had deteriorated and was regarded as unsafe. The marble tablets on the present memorial came from this structure. The original sandstone blocks and columns have recently been found and consideration is being given to restoration of the original memorial as part of a consolidated Woolgoolga Memorial Garden surrounding the Vietnam Memorial.
