Description / Background

The memorial is a framed paper honour roll commemorating former students from Beryl Public School who served in the First World War. The names and fate of 22 ex-pupils are printed in coloured script in two columns on the honour roll. The Australian, Union Jack, French and Belgian flags are printed in colour above and below the names.

Beryl is a small rural village located 24 kilometres west of Gulgong. The Beryl Public School opened in August 1881 and closed in May 1962.

The unveiling of the honour roll would have taken place at the Beryl Public School, however the date of the ceremony and dedication has not been determined. The memorial is now located in the military room of the Gulgong Pioneers Museum and is available for viewing when the museum is open to the public.
