Description / Background

The Cameron Memorial Uniting Church Great War Honour Roll is a large marble panel, inscribed with the names of 120 members of the church who served in the war. It is attached to an interior wall of the church, beneath the Cameron Memorial Uniting Church First World War Memorial Windows.

The roll was unveiled at the church during a special Anzac Day service on 27 April 1924. The service was advertised in the Glen Inness Examiner on 24 April. Church officials especially extended the invite to returned soldiers to attend. Mrs F A Doust, who had lost two songs in the war, performed the unveiling. One son, Lieutenant Frederick Herbert Doust (14th Battalion), was awarded a Military Cross on 30 August 1917. He was killed in action on 26 September 1917 on the Western Front. His brother, Lieutenant Harold Doust, was also awarded a Military Cross and was killed in action on the Western Front on 30 September 1918.

The memorials are available for viewing when the church is open to the public.
