Gunnedah Methodist Circuit First World War Roll of Honour Middle Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background The memorial is a timber roll of honour for the First World War. It has a simple column on each side and a classical pediment at the top. The 39 names are printed in gold in three groups in the centre of the board. The first group is flanked by two stylised flowers, reminiscent of tulips, also painted in gold. Those who fell during the war are marked with a cross. The design of this roll is similar to the Saumarez Union Church Great War Roll of Honour and the Centenary Methodist Church North Parramatta 1914–1919 Roll of Honor. While the memorial is dated 1915, it was unveiled on 29 March 1917 at the Gunnedah Methodist Church. In its coverage of the event on 5 April, the Daily Observer reported the roll contained 36 names of members of the church, indicating three names were added at a later date. The roll has undergone restoration. Image 1 above shows the roll post-restoration and image 2 shows it prior to the works. It is located in Gunnedah's Water Tower Museum and access to it is restricted to the opening hours of the museum.
