Lane Cove First World War Roll of Honour Middle Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background This war memorial is an elegant timber honour roll for the First World War. It features a curved pediment, which contains a relief carving of the Rising Sun badge. The names of servicemen from the district who enlisted in the war are printed in gold across six recessed columns in the main body of the board. The roll was once mounted in a glass case on the exterior of the Lane Cove Civic Centre. As the seal around the case had begun to break down, and dust and water had begun to get in around the seal, the board had begun to degrade and the lettering had begun to fade in the sun. Conservation works focused on removing the casing, conserving the timber, and reinstalling the roll inside the foyer of the centre. This memorial is listed as a heritage item on the NSW State Heritage Register. Access to view it is restricted to the opening hours of the centre.
