Methodist Church Tamworth Circuit First World War Roll of Honor

This war memorial consists of two matching timber honour boards for the First World War. They are located in the Tamworth City Uniting Church, formerly Tamworth Methodist.

The Tamworth Daily Observer, 26 July 1919, reported the trustees of the church had "decided to perpetuate the memory of the gallant men who went out from the Tamworth circuit to serve the cause of Empire and humanity." It was planned to install these boards to record the names of 160 men who served, as well as three stained glass windows. 

On Sunday 10 August, the boards and windows were unveiled and dedicated. The two honor boards were unveiled by Captain Chaplain William Mills Robson and the Reverend T. M. Alladin. The ceremony was held on the anniversary of the church, and at that stage, 140 names were recorded. The Daily Observer, 11 August 1919, described the ceremony in detail and also listed the names of those who died in the war. The names of the fallen are recorded on the brass honour roll directly below the central memorial window, located on the southern side of the church.
