Millbank Public School Memorial Gates Middle Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background These war memorial gates stand outside the entrance to Millbank Public School in Millbank, NSW. They consist of two concrete pillars, each topped with a concrete cap. A set of metal vehicle gates spans the gap between the pillars, securing the driveway to the school. Attached to the front face of each pillar are two white marble tablets. The top tablets are inscribed with the dedication and the bottom tablets are inscribed with the honour roll of those who served in the First World War. On both rolls, the names of soldiers who were killed are grouped together in a box and marked with the letter 'K'. The gates were dedicated on 7 April 1922 by Rev T. Taylor and Arch Deacon Curtis. At a later date, a bronze plaque has been added to the bottom of the right pillar to commemorate the Victory in Europe and Victory in the Pacific during the Second World War.
