Description / Background

This honour roll consists of three white marble tablets, which are attached to a wall at St Barnabas Memorial Anglican Church in Wardell, NSW. They are inscribed with the names of 35 members of the church who served in the First World War.

The tablets were originally inset into the church's memorial pulpit. The dedication ceremony took place on Remembrance Day, 11 November 1924. It was described in detail in the Northern Star on 15 November. Of the pulpit, the article said:

The pulpit had a frame work of stone with three panels of Italian marble inlet. The names of the volunteers were leaded, and the panels at the base were black Victorian marble. ... The work was carried out by Messrs. Edwards and Everingham, of Lismore.

Access inside the church is restricted to its opening hours.
