Temora Public School Great War Roll of Honour Middle Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background The memorial is made of grey marble approximately 2.5 metres long and 1 metre wide. The top of the honour roll features a segmental pediment decorated with the AIF emblem centred between a crossed Union Jack and Australian flag. It contains the names of 110 ex-pupils of the school who served in the First World War, listed alphabetically and inscribed in black lettering within a scroll. The roll of honour is located in the school's foyer. A letter published in The Albury Banner and Wodonga Express, 16 August 1918, reported that Mr Dennis, Principal of the Temora Superior Public School, was intending to have an honour roll made with the names of all ex-pupils who had enlisted. He hoped the memorial would be ready for unveiling by the time the Premier was to visit the school to open new classrooms on 14 November 1918. However, it was not until six years later that the Department of Education agreed to the honour roll being placed in the school (The Albury Banner and Wodonga Express, 31 October 1924). The marble roll of honour was unveiled by the Mayor at the school on 11 November 1924 (The Sydney Morning Herald, 17 November 1924).
