Description / Background

The Coolamon Loyal Sovereign Lodge First World War Honor Roll is a polished timber board with gabled pediment top, gold lettering and a gold-painted laurel wreath. The decorative features include carved columns on either side with supporting shelves at the top and bottom. The names are not in alphabetical order indicating that the memorial was unveiled before the end of the Great War.

The Albury Banner and Wodonga Express, 7 September 1917 reported that the "beautiful honor board" listing members of the Lodge who were serving was unveiled in the Masonic Hall on 31 August 1917. The ceremony was performed by Deputy Grand Master Barton of Sydney. A large number of Lodge members and special guests were invited. Following the unveiling, a program of vocal and musical items was enjoyed.

The Lodge Sovereign Lodge of the Manchester Unity Order of Oddfellows was created in Coolamon by October 1885 and was still in existence in March 1942. When the Lodge closed, the board was transferred to the Coolamon RSL Hall.
