Veteran Notes/Bio
- Listed Bungendore War Memorial Hall WW 1 ROH (1917) and Bygone Queanbeyan.
- “MAPPING ANZACS”: There is only one "J. A. Ford" listed and he was a Chaplain from South Australia.
- OUR SOLDIERS BUNGENDORE & THE GREAT WAR. Glenda Ellis .2007.ISBN:978-1-74027-487-6 records a Private Alfred William Ford # 2900 and makes a compelling case that he is the "J. A. Ford" commemorated on the Bungendore Memorial.
- Service Records of Alfred William Ford #2900 are as follows: POB: New England, NSW; POE: Goulburn; NOK: Brother: A.J. Ford, Bungendore.
- AWM Embarkation Roll: Rank: Private; Unit: 55 Infantry Battalion - 6 to 9 Reinforcements (October 1916 - January 1917); Age: 19; Occupation: Labourer; DOE: 24.05.1916; Embarked: 25.10.1916. Sydney. HMAT Ascanius. A11.
- AWM Nominal Roll: Rank: Private; Unit: 55 Battalion; DOE: 24.05.1916; KIA: 1.09.1918. Buried Peronne Communal Cemetery Extension, Peronne, Picardie, France.
- Summary: It is considered that the "J. A. Ford" recorded on the Bungendore Memorial is incorrect and should be " A. W. Ford", albeit there is no intention of amending the existing record on the Memorial for the reasons stated on the Bungendore and District War Memorial Home page.
- Ford J.A. was originally recorded on the Bungendore Memorial as Enlisted and Returned however this was rectified in August 2014 and he is now recorded as having been KIA.
- The Queanbeyan City Wall of Remembrance , RSL Building Memorial Arcade, Crawford St Queanbeyan, records a "Ford A.W.J. KIA" whom is understood to be Andrew William John James Ford 3369 and not the 2900"J.A.(A.W.)" recorded on the Bungendore Memorial.
- By PJH: ANZAC Day 2015 separate Wreaths laid at the Bungendore War Memorial for both Alfred William Ford (2900 -KIA) and Albert James Ford 2899 (RTA) brother of Alfred Ford. Albert was living at Currandooly, Bungendore on Enlistment. Alfred was also domiciled in Bungendore but it is not clear if he was also living at Currandooly.
