6. Queanbeyan Age 4.7.1916 (Bungendore) reported on the public send-off given to 'Corporal' Griffiths at the Railway Station where he was presented with a fountain pen as a parting gift.

 7. Queanbeyan Age 28 January 1916 reported on the arrival of the Men from Snowy River Recruitment March in Bungendore on the 24th.The  report stated that a number of local men gave their names as potential recruits but did not join the March at that timeEdward Griffiths susequently enlisted on 16.02.1916 at Goulburn.
