DVA Nominal Roll lists three "Vals"as follows: Val Charles ( 61735 RAAF),Val James (Q18086 Army) and Val Shanahan (08086{130007}) RAAF).No NAA files are Open but Val Shanahan who Enlisted in Queanbeyan and is remembered on the Queanbeyan & District ROH is presumed to be the most likely candidate for the Bungendore Memorial. 3.NSWBDM:Alfred Catherine Howard (nee Shanahan) was married in 1941 to Alfred Walker Howard who were reported in the 1936 Australian Electrol Rolls as livining in Gibraltar St Bungendore in 1936.The maiden Name of Beatrice suggests a local connection for Val Shanahan as the individual on the Bungrndore Memorial. 4.
