6.Military Medal:Commonwealth Gazette #109 dated 15.09.1919:

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the attack on the village of JONCOURT on 1st October 1918. This N.C.O. took part in the attack on the village, and while consolidating on the new position gained, his Platoon was considerably hampered by close range enemy rifle and machine gun fire, which caused casualties. Taking his Lewis gun, he moved to a flank, working from shell-hole to shell-hole under concentrated fire of three enemy Machine guns and several rifles. Reaching a commanding position, he immediately opened upon the enemy and used his gun to such good effect that he finally gained superiority over the enemy fire and thus enabled his Platoon to carry on with their consolidation unhampered by enemy fire. The pluck and initiative displayed by this man was undoubtedly responsible for the saving of many casualties, and his example was a source of inspiration to his fellow member of the Platoon.'
