1. Listed Bygone Queanbeyan as "F.W. (Bungendore)",Bungendore War Memorial Hall ROH and Collinson "Final List". 2.DVA Nominal Roll:Lists 8 X "F.W" none of whom appear to have an obvious Bungendore connection.Most obvious candidate is Francis Anthony ( Noel) Simpson whom is identified on the Monaro Pioneers Project as the Brother of Vincent James,Patrick Keith and Peter Joseph,all of whom are listed on the Bungendore Memorial .DVA details are as follows: DATE/POB:01.12.1925/ Bungendore;DATE/POE:8.09.1941/Duntroon;LOCALITY ON ENLISTMEN:Bungendore; NOK: George Simpson; DISCHARGE DATE /UNIT:14.01.1946/1 Aust Armd Corps Trg Regt.3. It is considered that the Initials "F.W." are incorrect. 3.Eulogy f0r francis Noel Simpson on www.heavenaddress.com/Francis-Noel-Simpson/369257/12464/content that in partt reads:"..His ticket away from the bush came when he followed his brothers into the Army. He lied about his age, being only 15 years and 9 months. Frank saw war service in Borneo and we will hear more about this time in his life later during the RSL service.
On leaving the Army, Frank went to live in Sydney where some of his brothers were. He relocated to Melbourne, working for Drum Reconditioners in North Coburg and this job would last for some 40 years. Frank lived in a house opposite the factory in Audrey Street - and this work became his life. He would work through their system to be a supervisor. He contributed in his practical way to designing process systems to improve the workplace....".
