1.Listed Bungendore War Memorial Hall WW1 ROH (1917-Added name ) as "E.J" and also as "E.J" in Bygone Queanbeyan. 2. “MAPPING ANZACS”:The initials on the Bungendore Memorial are "L.J" There is only one "L.J." listed here as Leonard Joseph #374 whose NAA file indicates that he was a Victorian with no obvious connection with Bungendore.The War Memorial Hall and Bygone Queanbeyan records would suppor tthe presumption that the initials on the Bungendore Memorial are incorrect. .The only "E.J" recorded on "Mapping ANZACS" is:Edmund John; Service Number: 379 (very close too #374) ;POB: Queanbeyan ,NSW :POE:Liverpool,NSW ;NOK: Wife:Sarah Ann Winter,Gibraltar St,Bungendore.Edmund John Winter died 6/12/1945, age 72, and is buried in the Tumbarumba Cemetery, NSW 3. AWM Embarkation Roll: Rank:Private ;Unit:19 Infantry Battalion (June 1915) ; Age: 40 ; Occupation:Farrier;DOE: ; Embarked:25.96.1915.Sydney.HMAT Melbourne.A40.

Winter, who has been invalided home on account of a wound in the ankle, from Gallipoli, returned to his home unexpectedly on Monday last and remained only a couple of days. He is unable to move about without the aid of crutches, but looks very well otherwise. He was interviewed by a great num ber of friends, and is in very good spirits, but regrets he was unable to continue longer at the front...."
