Veteran Notes/Bio

He was a horse driver who lived at Pacific Street, Watson's Bay.

He was given the Military Medal for -

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on 19th October, 1917. Whilst proceeding along the ZONNEBEKE Road (East of YPRES) delivering rations to his Battery, Driver A.M.J. RYAN'S cook's cart was destroyed by enemy shell fire. Knowing that the rations were urgently required, he delivered them by hand - a task necessitating his passing through heavy enemy shell fire.'
