Description / Background

These war memorial gates are dedicated to Corporal Gordon C. Campbell and Private Thomas R. Jarratt, who were killed in action in the Second World War. They consist of a two red-brick gate posts, each bearing an inscribed bronze plaque. A set of metal gates hang between the posts. A flagpole stands behind the gates, to the left-hand side of a small paved area.

The gates form the entrance to the Mayrung Public Hall. The two closest north/south roads to the hall have also been named Campbell and Jarratt Roads, to further honour the men.

The Mayrung village consists of the Mayrung Public School, a Uniting Church building, the hall's tennis courts, a recreation reserve, and a Rural Fire Service shed.
