SCEGGS Darlinghurst War Memorial Plaques Middle Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background In the School’s Chapel there is an oak panel with plaques commemorating old girls and students of SCEGGS Darlinghurst. Two of these plaques commemorate old girls associated with First World War service. The first plaque commemorates the death of Winifred Starling killed in enemy action during First World War. The second plaque commemorates Lilian Sargood (Lilian Mary Antill (née Christian)) who made a significant contribution in organising the work of the Citizens' War Chest Fund (Comfort Funds) in NSW during the First World War. The Chapel was built in 1926. Inscription Winifred Starling's plaque On active service. In proud memory of Winifred Starling drowned in the Irish Sea when the S.S. One of the first group of girls at Chatsworth. 1921 first Old Girl President of the Union and Ex Officio member of Council.
