'In the attack east of Mont St. Quentin, on the 2nd September, 1918, he pushed forward behind the first waves, attending the wounded under heavy artillery and machine gun fire. Later, he established a forward post, and through his gallantry, and his untiring exertion he saved many lives by getting their wounds expeditiously dressed and evacuating them quickly.'
