St Barnabas Memorial Anglican Church, Wardell Middle Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background St Barnabas Anglican Church in Wardell, NSW, was built in honour of those who served in the First World War. It is of brick construction, with a striking high gabled roof, covered with corrugated metal sheets. It demonstrates features typical of rural English design, including a covered entrance alcove, with decorative timber sides. The foundation stone of the church was laid by the Right Reverend Cecil Henry Druitt on 20 August 1919. It was dedicated the following year on 11 November by Archdeacon Tress. Inscription Foundation stone To the glory of God and in honor of the Empire's defenders this foundation stone was laid on August 20th 1919 by the Right Rev Cecil Henry Druitt D. D. Bishop of Grafton.
