At the top of the board is a carving of two sprays of Waratahs. Centred betweens the Waratahs are painted illustrations of eight flags of the Western Powers, with a wreath in the middle. Left to right they are: Romania, Japan, Russia, Britain's Union Jack, France, Belgium, Serbia and/or Montenegro, Italy. Notes on veteran names: The Australian War Memorial databases credit J(oseph) Maxwell with a Victoria Cross, Military Cross and Bar, and a Distinguished Conduct Medal.
