Veteran Notes/Bio
Trooper Harold William Gundagi Marshall served with the British South Africa Police in the South African (Boer War). He was accidentally shot at Manzimyama on 29 September 1900. He was awarded the South African Medal and Clasps in April 1901.
Harold's two brothers also served in the war, but they are not recorded on the Gundagai South African (Boer) War Memorial as they survived:
- Trooper James Marshall attended school in Gundagai. He resided in South Africa after his service ended. He died in South Africa in early 1929.
- Trooper Fred M Marshall (service no. 602) served with the Bethune's Mounted Infantry and the South African Light Horse.
