Two metal plaques are mounted on the rock. A history of the 1st Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR) can be found on the Royal Australian Regiment Association website. The memorial is located inside the Holsworthy Military Base. Inscription From these barracks during May /June 1965 the first Battalion the Royal Australian Regiment group departed for active service in South Vietnam. Erected in the memory of those who served during 1965/66 at the twentieth anniversary reunion. 9 June 1985.
