Description / Background

Memorial gates constructed of four brick pillars, with white wrought iron gates between them, providing entry to the R. J. Cooper Memorial Park.

There are four plaques on the pillars. One is a dedication to R. J. Cooper DFC for whom the memorial was established and named. The other three plaques are honour rolls for those who served in the Second World War and Vietnam.

The memorial is on part of Lot 240 within Crown Reserve R59362.

Plaque 1:

In memory of Flying Officer R. J. Cooper D.F.C., son of Mr and Mrs S.A Cooper, who enlisted with the R.A.F. 28th June 1939 and was killed in action over Derna, Nth Africa 26th Nov 1941, aged 22 years
