The hall was built to commemorate those who served in the First and Second World Wars. It is approximately 35m long, 10m wide and 9m high. The hall was built in two stages: the first was the memorial hall for the First World War and the second was an addition of a brick porch at the front of the hall as a memorial for the Second World War. The hall's foundation stone was laid by Mr R K Dempster on 24 August 1921, with Mr John Fisher presiding (The Grenfell Record, 25 August 1921). The square stone is framed by a stone border and is inscribed with black lettering. The construction of the hall involving donations of materials by local residents of Greenethorpe. Upon completion, the hall was dedicated on 23 August 1922 by the Mayor of Grenfell, Alderman Jno. Taylor in front of a large gathering (The Grenfell Record, 24 August 1922). After the Second World War, the new memorial brick porch was opened on 26 September 1947 by Lieutenant Colonel Charles Anderson V.C. The porch cost £1,000. The event was chaired by the President, Mr F Gray, with a large audience in attendance. Speakers included Councillor G H Pereitra, President of Weddin Shire; Mr Max McColl, the President of the Greenethorpe Branch RSL; and First World War veteran Mr R B Black (The Grenfell Record, 9 October 1947). The interior of the hall holds two identical timber honour rolls, which are listed separately on the NSW War Memorials Register: the Greenethorpe District First World War Honor Roll and the Greenethorpe District Second World War Honor Roll. The Second World War roll was unveiled during the ceremony for the porch. The hall also includes a 'Remembrance Room', featuring photographs and histories of local men who served in both wars, as well as one soldier who served in the Vietnam war. This room has restricted access for viewing. Inscription Foundation stone This stone was set by R.K. Dempster, Esq. 24th Aug. 1921.
