The park was opened to the public later that year on 22 October. At the entrance to the park are a set of brick and iron memorial gates with marble honour roll tablets, listing names from both wars, unveiled at the same time as the park. Within the park is a granite obelisk for the First World War with a relief carving of the Australian Military Forces badge and a dedication. The obelisk was moved to the park from elsewhere in the town prior to opening.
