Veteran Notes/Bio

He was a medical practioner who lived at Langtoft, Waverley. He was promoted to major and awarded the Military Cross. According to the Commonwealth Gazette it was 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in action. Owing to the battered condition of the front line trenches he was compelled to carry on his work among the wounded in the open. Under very heavy shell fire he showed the greatest coolness and courage. Though joined many hours later by other medical officers, he stuck to his work without rest or sleep.'
