Description / Background

The cenotaph is a column built from polished granite. It is mounted on five steps with the names of those who fell in the First World War inscribed on the memorial in gold. The base and steps are tiled and plaques to commemorate Korea, Vietnam, Peacekeepers, Women's Services and Malaya-Borneo have been added. The memorial is surrounded by a concrete post and pipe fence.

Dedicated on 25 April 1930

Erected in memory of the fallen soldiers of Maclean and District

This memorial acts as an everlasting remembrance to those who gave thier lives that we might live in security.

The memorial is made of polished Marulan granite mounted on a series of five steps, each step representing a year in the Great War.

The total height of the memorial is 15ft including the "Light Of Remembrance".

It was built by Don Collins and party for cost of £332 / 7 / -
