Shortland RSL Memorial Grove Middle Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background The focal point of the Memorial Grove is a monument consisting of a granite base surmounted by a metal structure displaying wording and insignia for each armed service, and a cross. Three flagpoles are positioned on the left, back and right sides of the monument. A columbarium with individual memorial plaques is also nearby. Inscription Metal structure This monument is dedicated to fallen comrades. To all Australians, men and women and to our courageous allies who served this great nation. The Great War 1914-1918 — World War II 1939-1945 — Korea 1950-1953 — Vietnam 1962-1971 and all other world wide confrontations. We will remember them.
