Description / Background

The Memorial Institute is a symmetrically designed, two-storey brick building. It features simple timber supports and lattice work on the verandahs on the ground and first floors, and a central hallway inside. There is a large sign on the front of the building with the words 'Memorial Institute 1927'.

The construction was as a joint initiative of the First World War Memorial Committee and the Uralla Literary Institute. Designed by Inverell architect, J.F. O'Connor, it was dedicated by the Minister for Education and local member, the Hon. David Drummond.
