Walter George gave his address as Bondi. He joined the army in 1916 and was part of the 1st Field Squadron Engineers, Anzac Mounted Division. He started as a driver but fell ill with influenza and pyrexia and later diagnosed with malaria. He was discharged in 1917 and sent home.
