Edwin Stanley Bingley is the only Sutton-named WW2 veteran still alive. He lives near Sutton. In September 2017, Sutton village celebrated its 150th anniversary, and Stanley Bingley attended the heritage walk day on 9 September 2017 and unveiled the WW2 plaque with his name corrected. He was very pleased to be finally recognised for his military service in WW2.
