Description / Background

A beaten copper shield, on which tiny copper name plaques for each veteran are attached. Names are grouped according to the veterans' role in the hospital (e.g. nursing staff). The shield is decorated with the Sydney Hospital badge at the very top, a crossed Australian flag and Union Jack and laurel leaves. It is mounted on a polished timber board. Lettering is engraved and blackened and some headings have been coloured in red.

The memorial is located in the former main hospital entrance foyer. It was dedicated in late November 1917.
