Clarence Valley Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Grafton

The memorial consists of several elements. At the rear is a semi-circular concrete wall, in front of which in the centre is a granite pillar surmounted by a bronze figure of an Australian infantryman in jungle greens standing with his Self-Loading Rifle. On each of the four sides of the pillar, are plaques representing the Australian Army, Royal Australian Navy, Royal Australian Air Force and Nursing Corps. There are two small curved walls in front of the pillar. All three walls have spaces between them, allowing people access around the memorial.

On the rear wall is a plaque, which bears the main inscription. Below this, are the names of the major battles fought by Australians in Vietnam: Long Tan, Coral, Balmoral and Binh Ba. There are also smaller plaques for individual veterans. At the rear of the memorial, there are eight brass plaques containg the names of the 520 servicemen and women who died during the war, in addition to the five civilians who also died during the conflict. Above these plaques, in brass lettering, are the words 'Vietnam 1962–1973. Lest We Forget.'
