Description / Background

This memorial is a rough-granite pillar, approximately 3.5 metres high and 1.4 metres wide. It features an honour roll inscribed on the four faces of the pillar, and battle names on the four faces of the base. The pillar is set upon a reinforced concrete foundation.

The base also contains a decorative panel on each of the four faces, illustrated with the following:

  • North - Union Jack
  • South - Australian flag supported by kangaroos
  • East - engraved marble scene of trench warfare
  • West - crossed rifles and laurel wreath on slouch hat

The memorial was made by prominent stonemason M.W. Hardy of Narrabri, NSW. It was relocated to its present position when the Guyra Tingha Road was realingned.
